The BlackGuard of the Glen (The Glen Highland Romace Book 8) by Michelle Deerwester-Dalrymple

He’s not called Black Douglas for nothing.
In fact, the reason for his name is nothing short of grim.
James Douglas has a heart as black as his name. When his king commands him to wed the daughter of a fallen laird, can the fair Tosia Fraser tame the beast of the Highlands?

James Douglas prides himself on his uncanny military strategy over the English sassenachs, and he soon finds himself at the right hand of King Robert the Bruce of Scotland. But the king and his kinsmen worry that James's darker side will consume him.

The king finds an ideal solution. Get the Black Douglas a wife to help ground him and salve his soul.

Tosia Fraser doesn’t know it, but she is the daughter of a powerful laird and staunch ally to the Bruce. To reward the fallen Laird Fraser’s fealty and assure the future of Tosia, the king betroths her to the man whose name strikes fear into the hearts of all who hear it.

The idea of marrying such a beast makes Tosia’s knees weak, but as she gets to know the man behind the beast of Black Douglas, her legs are weak for another reason. When he weds her, James uses his beastly skills to ignite their bed, and Tosia’s heart, on fire.

James Douglas does have a heart, and he swears it to Tosia. It turns out the beast of Scotland can be tamed.

But life is precarious during the Scottish War of Independence, and even though Douglas has led the Scots to a series of victories, this doesn’t mean he will always return to Tosia’s side. Especially when a spy alerts Tosia to a trap laid by the English to kill the Bruce and her Black Douglas.

Armed with this news, Tosia is willing to risk everything, even her own life, to make sure James always returns to her.

In this eighth and final book in the Glen Highland Romance series, all the clan come together to join the Bruce in his march across Scotland. Amid the chaos of the war and the clans, Tosia and James cling to the slender thread of hope that they will survive to head into the future together.

Or will that thread be cut far too soon for them?

Golden Shana: The Chase by A P von K'Ory

Do you like a little suspense with your steam? Check out an excerpt from Golden Shana: The Chase and then find out how author A P von K'Ory was inspired to create this series. Leave your thoughts in the comments section as you make your way through the tour. Best of luck entering the giveaway!

An evening at the La Scala in Milan twirls the lives of five people into a web of rivalry, intrigues, heartaches, obsession, murder, loss, and revenge.

“… for those who love selective eroticism with substance. An exciting and sophisticated erotic thriller for the astute romance reader, woman or man.”

Love, a word Roman can hardly spell, hits him when he sees Shana one evening. She’s the first woman not dropping to her knees at his mere presence. Used to getting whatever he wants, he chases her. Only to discovers that she prefers the girls. Roman can’t let that deter him. But is he for once up against his own comeuppance? At any rate, he needs assistance, which comes in the form of Alyssa, Shana’s BFF. Trouble crops up when Alyssa is all too ready and willing to drop on her knees for him.

Roman can't get anywhere near Shana on his own. Would he start anything with Alyssa as long as this finally leads him to meet Shana in person?

Then there’s Marie, his current companion, who has a life-changing surprise for him.

Roman: I never chased after a woman. Then I caught a glimpse of the woman I would kneel for, but didn’t even know her name. Heck, I determined to find her if it took me the rest of my life.

Shana: He stood in the room with her. The frisson in the currents freaking between them knocked her senseless. The mutual force of predator and prey, blasting into her core ... her soul ... Danger. Keep far away from him.

Read an excerpt:
“Marie, what the hell are you doing here?”

“Roman! I could ask you the same.” Her eyes flitted from Bastian to Roman. Bastian had a surprised look on his face that must have matched her own. Here was Europe’s most loaded Adonis heartthrob he’d just mentioned a moment ago.

“I’m here to take you home.” Then he leant in closer to her face. “Both of you.”

This arrogant bastard! “Roman, I’m here to enjoy my Saturday night with my sister and Monika. You said you weren’t coming back to us!” She stressed the us so strongly that it came out like a violent hiss. She was almost livid with rage. Roman had no right to simply butt in on her evening and start claiming rights! He was the one who walked out on them. He was the one who ended their relationship over the phone! He was… shit!

Roman thumped on Bastian’s chest so hard that Bastian had to be held steady by several dancers to stop him toppling over. “You – whoever you are – keep your fucking hands off her!” Most dancers stopped dancing to watch the show. Roman stepped forward to now spit all that in Bastian’s face, their foreheads almost knocking, Roman bending down to make up for the height he had over Bastian. “Have I made myself understood?” he roared, and she feared he might actually hit his forehead on Bastian’s.

Like a pair of rutting bucks.

Her fury mingled with the fact that even with all of it, Roman inflamed her longing for him, ignited a burst of desire in her for him. Roman in all his infuriating masculine sexiness and stunning perfection that demanded attention like he was some sort of danger or magnificent delight. All eyes, male and female, were on him. She couldn’t believe that she felt a twinge of jealousy at the ogling women. God, was she for real?

But he looked absolutely delicious in light trousers and navy polo shirt and leather belt, Clarks Trimocc Sun, no socks. As if he was about to board his yacht and go for a cool long drink in the middle of the ocean. His clothes didn’t fight with his muscles, they complemented each other. That look and his air of absolute self-confidence, coupled with the aggression, were clitoris activators. The throbbing between her legs killed her.

Why couldn’t he see that he was the only one for her, the Neanderthal jerk?

Background of the Golden Shana Series books
My Initial Inspiration: My Husband

By A P von K’Ory

Although I’d been writing nonfiction political/humanitarian books before, meeting my husband inspired my first romance novel. At the time I lived in both London and Geneva and did my first internship with the ILO Headquarters. I had been assigned to this charming and cultured man as his interpreter, because I’d translated several of his papers from French and German into English. So in a way I already ‘knew’ him. We eventually discovered that we both had the sort of childhood we had not been happy with, but had to adhere to out of duty to our families.

We both bore the straitjacket of “to the manner born”, which threw a number of stumbling boulders in our path when we finally wanted to get married. We weren’t merely different in terms of culture and ethnicity; we also came from different continents.

After we got married regardless, My husband and I often discussed what being a Luo and a French-German aristocrat culturally means. Despite all other heritage and cultural influences that converge in me, I most strongly identify with Luoland and the Luos. I was born in Kenya, but I’ve spent most of my life in Europe; from preparatory school in Yorkshire at age nine, to universities in Britain, India, Germany and Switzerland.

My French and German husband also has aristocratic heritage, and lived most of his life in Burgundy and Franconia, but travelled extensively around the world. So the more we delved into the vagaries of our mutual attraction to each other, the more we uncovered about ourselves. We often talked till the small hours about our customs, rites and rituals, religious beliefs and societal norms.

We became a thousand shades of archaeological discoveries.

This is how I came to write my first romance novels, the Bound to Tradition trilogy, the love story of a Kenyan girl, Khira, and a Swedish industrialist, Erik. When my husband read the books in the German translation, he encouraged me to extend the “fiction-based-on-real-life” to our children. I wanted to venture into eroticism. Bound to Tradition trilogy was literary and had won me numerous awards and prizes in Europe and America. It was little wonder then that I reverted to the youngest daughter of Khira and Erik, Svadishana (Golden Shana), as my heroine. But I wanted her and Roman to have conflicts that were unique and not directly associated with their diverse cultures or feelings for each other per se. I wanted them to have an unusual eroticism.

I can only hope that the Golden Shana Series earns what I call it: ©Sophisterotic.

A P von K’Ory writes the kind of books she herself would like to read and is passionate about, whether romance, psychological thriller or nonfiction. She is the winner of six awards from four continents, the last one being the Achievers Award for Writer of the Year 2013 in the Netherlands. The Selmere Integration Prize was awarded her in 2014 for her engagement in helping African Women in the Diaspora cope with a variety of domestic and social problems. The Proposal, a short story, won the Cook Communications first prize in 2010 and is published in an American anthology Africa 2012. In 2012, she won the Karl Ziegler Prize for her commitment to bring African culture to Western society in various papers, theses, and lectures. Again in 2012, her book Bound to Tradition: The Dream was nominated for the 2012 Caine Prize by the Author-me Group, Sanford, and in 2013 she was shortlisted for the Commonwealth Writers Prize.

Von K'Ory is married to an aristocrat and politician of Franco-German descent, has a large extended family. She lectures Economics and Sociology in Austria, Germany and Switzerland. She’s migratory and – weather willing – lives in Germany, France, Cyprus, and Greece.

Sin City Wolf: Hunt by January Bain

January Bain is back with the second installment in her Sin City Wolf series, a paranormal romance featuring a billionaire werewolf! Lots of your favorite tropes all rolled into one! Check out an excerpt and then download your own copy. Be sure to follow the tour for even more. Best of luck entering the giveaway!

To be chosen is everything.
Billionaires. Scholars. Relic hunters.
Alessandro and Maximus Luceres are a united force and dangerous wolves to cross. Members of the powerful House of Luceres, they have spent their lifetimes searching the world over for the Lupus Sanguis Chalice, the fabled wolf blood chalice reputed to save the life of a human bitten by a werewolf during the first full moon.

But never in all their travels did the twins expect to find their possible Forever Mate, much less discover the beautiful Trinity Wells to be in league with their sworn enemies, the nefarious House of Ribelle, who are seeking the precious chalice by any means necessary and want Trinity to mate with one of their own.

Shockingly, Trinity is bitten by a Nomad wolf, starting the clock ticking down to her possibly fatal transformation and making the discovery of the chalice all that more vital.

Will Trinity survive the change…and unite the pair of brothers rivaling to be her Forever Mates?

Read an excerpt:

“Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today…”

Maximus vibrated with excessive energy, droning out the minister. Standing there like a stuffed turkey in his dove-gray morning coat and tails, waiting for his brother and mate to conclude the official ceremony, all he could think was sign the damn contract already. The sooner he got out of this godawful monkey suit and had an extended run in the clear, crisp desert air, the better.

He stretched his neck under the stiff white collar. There wasn’t much call for such attire in the sacred halls of a dusty library, researching ancient writings, seeking clues to the whereabouts of sacred objects, in particular the House of Luceres’ holiest of grails, the Lupus Sanguis Chalice. Just thinking of laying his hands on the priceless item made his pulse quicken.

Lives spent in the higher halls of learning was a calling he and his twin Alessandro were well suited to. He didn’t want the unenviable job of being CEO of a string of worldwide casinos, like the ones his soon-to-be married brother reined over, though he admired how his sibling managed the position with such style and grace.

But even Cristaldo had to release his wolf on occasion, to manage his beast effectively. Maximus hid a grin at the reminder of how off-the-rails his alpha sibling had become when he’d first met up with the lovely, all-too-human Everly. He’d nearly lost it, according to their brother Lucius—Cristaldo’s twin—who took great glee in reminding everyone of the fact.

“And do you, Everly Joy Affini, take this man, Cristaldo Maximus Luceres, to be your lawfully wedded husband, until you are reborn?”

“I do.”

His brother raised his mate’s veil and the look of adoration and love so clear in his eyes made Maximus glance away. Sly, sitting in the first row of pews as acting majordomo of the House of Luceres, let out a loud sob, his kindly face creased with contentment as he pressed a snowy-white handkerchief to his mouth.

A sense of need and envy stirred deep inside Maximus, its rawness taking him by surprise. What is this? He ran a finger between his shirt collar and his neck in an effort to loosen it. Taking a deep breath, he forced himself to remain still and see the final part of the ceremony to its expected conclusion. His twin Alessandro stirred at his side, apparently needing a deep breath of his own. The church was too hot and too stifling by half.

French Kiss by Gloria J. Goldsmith

Romance in the south of France? Yes, please! That's one of my favorite places! Check out an excerpt from the contemporary romance French Kiss by Gloria J. Goldsmith AND get a sneak peek into her newest book and series coming soon! Let her know what you think! And then be sure to follow the tour and enter the great giveaway!

I was DONE! I ditched graduation, dumped my repressed college boyfriend, and dropped my sexual insecurities for a wild ride with Destiny. Unpredictable Fate beckoned with a European adventure!

In a chance encounter, I met Jean Louis. From the instant we met, the dashing young Frenchman soothed my bruised heart, rejuvenated my spirit, and convinced me that leaving my old life was no mistake. Together, we set out to explore southern France.

Jean Louis was torn from my life almost as quickly as he had entered it, yet leaving the haunting memory of his caress permeating my every thought. Driven by love and passion, I journeyed to find my lover, even if it meant scouring all the hidden corners of France.

Would I ever reunite with the man I believe to be my one true soulmate? Would I ever hear him say he feels the same for me as I do him? What twist of Fate will it take for me to find him?

Read an excerpt:
They said he was “very mean.” He threw people off the bus all the time. Some tried to speak what they could in English, to tell me this bus driver was evil. He would call the police!

I smiled and said with American confidence, “Pas d’aujourd’hui.” Not today.

The bus driver came back and again threatened to call the cops.

I said, “Ahh, M. chauffeur de bus, le flic, il viendra ici, il me dit, ‘Avez-vous un billet?’”

Ahh. Mr. Bus Driver, the cop, he’ll come here, he’ll say to me, ‘Do you have a ticket?’ I pretended to talk to an imaginary cop standing beside the bus driver.

“Et moi, moi je dis… And me, me I say…” I used my theater training to perfection. I put a finger in my cheek to make a pretend dimple and spoke in a honeyed, childlike voice in French.

“Oh, Monsieur Flic, bien sûr, j'ai un billet, avec la date et l’heure d’aujourd’hui, les mêmes que toutes les autres ici.” Oh. Mr. Cop of course, I have a ticket, with today’s date and hour, the same as all the others here. I leaned forward, acting as if I were whispering to the pretend cop. “Il est un peu malade, tsk, tsk.” He is a little sick, tsk, tsk. I twirled my index finger in a small circle, signaling the French gesture of “mental.”

All the bus riders burst out laughing at my sugar-coated, sweet face and voice to the imaginary cop. The red-faced bus driver threw his hands up and went to his seat. His arms across his chest, he stuck out his bottom lip in a Gallic pout and refused to move the bus for nearly ten minutes before finally giving up and moving off.

As each of the riders got off the exit by me, they patted my arm, smiled, and said things like, “Oh, you Americans, you are so amusing. Very good, very good!”

There were still about ten passengers when they got to my stop. I waved at the bus driver and shouted, “À demain!” Until tomorrow. He threw up his hand in a friendly salute before he remembered who I was, then flung his hand forward and scowled.

I laughed and shouted at him, “J’aime la France!” I love France!

In his big mirror at the front, I saw his eyebrows raise, and he lifted his head at me in agreement and gave a tiny smile.

Victory is sweet!

My next book, That Wylde Woman! is a historical regency romance and the first book in the Wylde Hearts series.

Excerpt from Chapter 8…

He is either dim-witted or purposely intended it as a fraudulent act, hoping to get a settlement. It was the latter, she realized too late. He was undoubtedly sunk in dun territory and willing to do anything to be flush in the pocket. He turned red, then purple with anger, and howled with manufactured rage at her bravery.

"You have ignored all of my articulations. What better proof could I have? You have breached the bounds of cordiality; admonitions have repeatedly been ignored. You are a boorishly insistent, bloody fool."

Knowing he could get almost as far with the threat of assault charges or, instead, a pay-off for his injuries, he began yammering to draw witnesses while staring smugly at Marleigh. He was sure he had secured some money. A great deal of money.

" My arm! My limb! Look at the blood! I have no feeling in it. It will never be the same! You have ruined my thigh!"

He was bleating like a goat, getting louder at each word. They ranted on, both shouting at each other as Swansea circled around Marleigh like a predator stalking his prey.

A tall, dark man suddenly rose from a prone position on the chase when the two disputants came a bit too close for comfort. A few partygoers flooded onto the terrace, alerted by the loud voices to witness not a Lady being manhandled by a lout, but a man and woman in a genuine dispute slowly circling, arguing, nonstop, each trying to speak over the top of the other.

She, holding a sword, aimed defensively at the man. He, with blood dripping down his thigh. Both completely ignoring anyone else in the room and persisting in shouting derogatory epithets at each other. The tall man bolted to the doors, shooing the others back, closing the French doors quietly. Marleigh glimpsed his dark hair and thought he gave a stunning impression of a Greek warrior with a broad chest and narrow waist.

Swansea grasping that he had a "witness," suddenly became totally enraged. Clutching at his backside, he screamed toward the man, "Lady Marleigh has impaled me, sliced me open like a fish! I'm bleeding to death. If I should survive, I will forever walk with a limp."

Shaking a long bony finger at Marleigh, he lowered the timbre of his voice. "You are a monstrous she-devil! You beguiled me! You are at fault for this excessive, unprovoked attack! Draining my life-blood away! You have proven that you are a mere dim-witted woman! Such an unclean, vile, ignorant woman you attempt to attack my manhood, on the wrong side of the male anatomy!" She laughed sarcastically at his attempt to impune her knowledge of the male structure.

"Blood?" She laughed. "I'll show you Blood!" Swishing the blade as though it was a sword of justice, it hummed in the air, emphasizing each invective. She parried his every move.

"You deceitful, libelous, son of a sea cook! I'll show you dim-witted! I was going for your brain, which everyone knows, is stuffed up your arrogant ARSE!"

The Greek god-like male had to stifle a smile at that comment. She hadn't stripped the vanish, but she indeed had perceived her opponent correctly and had given an excellent verbal sally. The unknown witness decided it was time to stop Swansea, who apparently had no gentlemanly code and appeared to be readying for a pay-off.

"THAT WILL BE QUITE ENOUGH!" rumbled Alexander Crofton loudly in his bottomless bass voice.

As a Special Education teacher, I became fascinated by the English language. I still marvel at how it changes and expands over time. My most pleasurable teaching moments were showing children how a wondrous story can take their imaginations to other times, places, even other worlds. When the pandemic began, I started my first foray into publishing⸺ a nonfiction book, The Sensible Parent’s Little Homeschooler Handbook.

My secret pleasure-writing has always been focused on romance. French Kiss is a Contemporary Romance based on a fictionalized version of experiences during eighteen months of living and working abroad before the formation of the European Union.

Next year, my first Historical Regency Romance That Wylde Woman will be published. It has allowed me to indulge my curiosity and enthusiasm for history by incorporating in the storyline a historical geologic event which affected weather and farming and even how England’s war with Napoleon impacted clothing styles.

Ambushed and left for dead, U.S. Secret Service K-9 Officer Markus York is on the mend and laying low in a safe house while his team tracks down his attacker. But Markus isn’t good at sitting still. Even with his K-9, Ghost, for company, he gets restless and decides now is the perfect time to do some repairs around the house…and inadvertently tears open his wounds.

Fresh out of a bad relationship that ended after a car accident left her with limited mobility, freelance accountant Cassidy Morgan has sworn off men. At least, that’s the plan. Yeah, that’s not at all concerning.

Despite Markus’s surly attitude, Cassidy senses there’s something else at work beneath his rugged, keep-your-distance exterior. Whatever it is, it’s sexy as hell.

With someone still trying to kill him, Markus doesn’t want an innocent to get hurt, let alone take care of him.

If only his dog wasn’t crazy in love with her.

If only Cassidy wasn’t a target now, too.

Read an excerpt:
Fear snapped her into action and she threw her legs over the side of the bed. No sooner had the alarm kicked on than it abruptly kicked off. The barking eased to an occasional snarl. What she heard next frightened her more.

Voices. Lots of voices, and she knew whose they were.

Her entire family was downstairs. All six of them.

And Markus is alone with them.

With her heart racing at what she could only imagine in her worst nightmares was happening downstairs, she snatched up her clothes then opted for the more expeditious option—her robe.

Still tying the robe around her waist, she all but ran from the bedroom. Halfway down the stairs, she froze. Heat scorched her face.

Markus’s expression was grim as he stood in front of the keypad in nothing more than his jeans and a gun tucked into the small of his back. Ghost sat obediently beside him, with only the slightest rumble coming from the back of his throat. Her father, mother, two brothers and sisters stood in front of the open door.

“What’s doing, sis?” her oldest brother, Jimmy, asked in a frosty tone.

Wearing only her robe, it was pretty darned obvious exactly what she and Markus had been doing.

“Merry Christmas, Cassidy,” her younger sister, Kaitlyn, said, flipping back her unruly head of red curls and grinning as she cast an unabashedly appreciative eye at Markus. “Merry Christmas to you, too.”

While she totally understood her sister’s sentiments because, well, Markus was hotter than hell in his bare feet and the top snap of his jeans still undone, it irked to have her sister drooling over her new boyfriend.

Boyfriend?

She shook her head to clear it. Deciphering what she and Markus were exactly would have to wait. Especially after last night’s conversation. Right now, there were more pressing matters at hand. Like keeping her father and brothers from pounding on Markus all at once.

Cassidy took the rest of the stairs in record time, stepping in front of Markus and Ghost as if they needed protection. He might not know it, but he does. “What are you all doing here?”

Sean, the second oldest sibling of the family, tapped a finger on his watch. “It’s ten o’clock, Cass. On Christmas Day.”

She gasped. Oh my gosh.

Her father pursed his lips as he glared at Markus. “We were worried about you, lass,” he said in the same thick Irish brogue that hadn’t diminished much, even after decades of living in the U.S.

Jimmy crossed his arms. “You’re always the first under the tree. When you didn’t show at nine on the button, we were surprised.”

“When you didn’t show by nine fifteen,” her older sister, Brianna, chimed in, “we got a little worried.”

“By nine thirty,” her mother added in a lilting brogue and coming to wrap an arm around her shoulder and give her a good squeeze, “we decided to come by and check on you. You can blame me for that. I insisted.”

Then and there, she made a New Year’s resolution to collect every single one of her house keys from every single member of her family so this would never, ever happen again. “I’m sorry to have worried all of you, but you could have called or at least texted.”

“Between all of us”—Sean swept his arm to encompass the family—“we probably called ten times.” He pointed to her phone which was right where she’d left it last night. On the kitchen counter.

She smacked a hand to her forehead. “You did call, didn’t you?”

As if sensing there were no words he could say to pacify her family at finding a half-naked man and a snarling dog in her house, Markus wisely remained silent. She couldn’t be sure whether the slight upturn of his lips was a grimace or a smile. Given the awkwardness of the situation, she’d go with grimace.

Her father arched a brow. “Care to introduce us, lass?”

“You’ve got to be kidding me,” Hudson Granger said. “I have to do what?” He’d misheard the declaration from his assistant.

“Lucas?”

“Get married.” Lucas Cole held the tablet and looked up at him.

“You can stay in your position with Granger Stores and will be given your inheritance if you get married before the end of the month. It’s one of the stipulations in your father’s will. Every child must be married before the end of January. It’s already January twenty-eighth.”

“Or I can’t inherit that money and keep my position as the head of Granger Stores?” Hudson pinched the bridge of his nose. “I’m the only child who isn’t married.”

“Correct.” Lucas sighed and swiped his finger over the screen.

“Apparently, your sisters don’t get their money until you’re married. They’ve got incentive to get you coupled up.”

“Crap.” He swayed before settling on the edge of his desk.

“They want the cash. Lia needs money for her second honeymoon, Cassie wants to put her kids through private school, and Desiree needs an infusion of money to her design studio.”

“Yes, yes, and yes.” Lucas paled. His blue eyes widened.

“They’re on the way up here. Looks like Cassie was in the lobby with a brunette woman. She’s trying to fix you up, I bet.”

“I’m gay.”

“I know that, and so do your sisters.” Lucas placed the tablet on Hudson’s desk. “What do you want to do? This is your life, and it should be your decision.”

The Lady and the Texan by Bobbi Smith

Welcome to the blurb blitz tour for The Lady and the Texan by Bobbi Smith, the sequel to the historical romance, Lady Deception. Check out an excerpt and then download your own copy! Be sure to follow the tour for more, leaving your questions and comments along the way. Best of luck entering the giveaway!

The Lady and the Texan

The Lady

A firebrand since the day she was born, Amanda Taylor always stood up for what she believed in. Growing up in Texas, she could ride and shoot with the best of the boys before being sent back East for a more refined education. A firm believer in women’s rights, she was not going to let any man control her—especially a man like the rough-and-ready gunslinger Jack Logan, who had been sent by her father to escort her safely back to Texas.

The Texan

After a deadly run-in with the infamous El Diablo, Jack Logan left the Texas Rangers, no longer able to trust his instincts—or any woman. He knew Dan Taylor’s daughter was trouble, and yet her defiant spirit only spurred his hunger for her. Jack discovered that keeping the dark-haired tigress at bay was a lot harder than outsmarting the outlaws who were after him—and surrendering to the sweet fury in her arms was a heck of a lot riskier.

The Lady and the Texan

Dinner was being served on the riverboat, yet Amanda and Eileen hadn’t heard from Jack since he’d left them in a strange mood that morning

“You wait here in the cabin in case he shows up. I’ll go see if I can find him,” Amanda said.

Her first instinct told her he’d probably gotten involved in a poker game and forgotten about them. As she neared the door to the saloon, a steward came out.

“Excuse me, sir, have you seen Mr. Logan?”

“Yes, ma’am. Would you like me to get him for you?” he offered.

“Please. I’ll be on deck.”

Amanda went to stand at the rail. When Jack didn’t come out right away, she began to worry, for it was growing dark. She started back inside just as Jack walked out.

“Why, if it isn’t Miss Amanda Taylor, standing out here in the moonlight,” Jack said.

“You’ve been drinking!”

“Yes, I have.” His words were slurred as he crossed the distance between them.

“You’re disgusting!”

“Are you wishing you had your axe right now?”

“Oh, you!”

She turned to walk away, but he caught her by the wrist. Jack stared down at Amanda, seeing the beautiful face that had haunted him all day.

“I don’t understand why you want to be so much like a man. As lovely as you are, you could have all the men in the world begging for your favors…”

“I want to be strong, so I don’t have to put up with men like you!” She tried to twist free of his grip.

Her defiance sparked something in Jack.

“You should be more feminine.” He drew her close.

Amanda knew she should resist him, but she hesitated. In that moment, Jack sought her lips in a tender caress.

Amanda was frightened, yet breathless. Jack’s kiss was a sensation unlike anything she’d ever known before. It was gentle, yet powerful. Demanding, yet tantalizing.

He pulled her closer, and she fit perfectly in his arms. He deepened the embrace, parting her lips to taste of her sweetness.

Title: Serve ‘N’ Protect

Author: Tee O’Fallon

Genre: Romantic Suspense

Release Day Blitz: September 20th

About Serve ‘N’ Protect:

Ambushed and left for dead, U.S. Secret Service K-9 Officer Markus York is on the mend and laying low in a safe house while his team tracks down his attacker. But Markus isn’t good at sitting still. Even with his K-9, Ghost, for company, he gets restless and decides now is the perfect time to do some repairs around the house…and inadvertently tears open his wounds.

Fresh out of a bad relationship that ended after a car accident left her with limited mobility, freelance accountant Cassidy Morgan has sworn off men. At least, that’s the plan. Until a frantically barking dog leads her to a neighbor’s house where she finds a mysterious man out cold and bleeding on the floor...and mumbling things like “no, they’ll find me” when she tries to call an ambulance.

If only the chemistry between Markus and Cassidy didn’t explode whenever they were in the same room.

If only Cassidy wasn’t a target now, too.

Book Blurb:

The St. Louis Mavericks are having the best season in team history. On pace for a pro hockey record, the unexpected death of their captain and star player knocks them off course in ways they never expected.

Weston

My world was turned upside down the day Ben Whitmer died. Best friends since junior hockey, Ben was like a brother to me. My voice of reason and a grounding force on and off the ice. But as heartbroken as I am, I don’t have the luxury of grieving his loss.

Not only do I have to hold our team together, I was named guardian of the two young children Ben and his wife left behind. Well, not just me—me and his wife’s best friend, Hadley. We’ve been left with the impossible task of deciding which of us will raise the kids, but there’s no way I’m letting that uptight ball buster have them.

Lines are drawn, but they begin to blur as I find out there’s more to Hadley than I thought. A lot more.

Hadley

I can’t take the place of my beautiful best friend in her children’s lives. But I love them so fiercely that I’ll do whatever it takes to raise them the way their parents wanted.

Wes Kirby is an obnoxious womanizer, and I won’t let him take Ben and Lauren’s children from me. Deciding to temporarily live together in our friends’ home, we attempt to provide the kids stability while we figure out which of us is better suited to raising them.

As we learn parenthood together, my enemy Wes slowly becomes something different. Something more. And I’m left wondering not only if I’m enough for the kids, but if Wes and I are enough to last.

Read an excerpt:
Some things are common sense. Making sure you hold on to a baby so he doesn’t roll off a bed, not arguing when a three-year-old wants to dip her hot dog in apple juice, and putting kids in car seats. That stuff, you can figure out no matter how inexperienced you are. On the other hand, no one warns you about projectile vomiting, how many wipes it actually takes to clean a baby’s ass after a shit explosion, or what temperature you use when defrosting breast milk.

I was now covered in puke, piss, and breast milk, Benny was naked, and Annalise didn’t seem impressed with my first solo effort at parenting.

“You’re stinky,” she told me, wrinkling her little nose.

“Well, me and the big guy are gonna get in the shower,” I told her, scooping Benny up.

“Can I come?”

I froze. Having her in the shower with me wouldn’t be appropriate, but I also realized I couldn’t leave her out here by herself either. She was generally well behaved, but still only three, so she needed supervision.

Well, so much for a shower.

Christ, I was fucking exhausted and today’s shit explosion had been epic. As an honorary family member, I’d changed Benny’s and Annalise’s diapers on occasion, but usually just pee, and certainly nothing of this magnitude. But this had been something else entirely. I’d made the mistake of opening the diaper while he was still shitting and then he pissed and—I was so not prepared for this.

“Uncle Wes, I’m hungry. Is it lunchtime yet?”

Today’s game day morning skate had been optional, so I’d stayed home with the kids hoping to nap when they did, but that hadn’t happened. It was almost one in the afternoon and I’d barely fed them breakfast, much less lunch, and I was starting to get overwhelmed. There was no way I’d be able to nap before I left for the game, either. I was just treading water.

There was a brisk knock on the door and someone called out to me.

“Wes?” I recognized Nash’s voice.

“In here!” I called back.

Thank fuck someone was here. Now Nash could keep an eye on Annalise while I showered with Benny.

“Hey.” I looked up gratefully.

“Uncle Nash!” Annalise gave him a bright smile just before her eyes rounded.

Coming up behind him was our team’s enforcer, a huge Swede named Lars Jansson. Six feet six inches, with long blond hair, he was a shy, quiet guy who tended to keep to himself off the ice. I didn’t think he’d ever been to any of the team’s family parties, and Annalise had probably never seen him in person before.

“It’s Thor,” she whispered, her eyes wide as saucers.

Lars stared right back. “My name is Lars,” he responded in his stiff, accented English. “What is your name?”

“I’m Annalise.” She walked over to him, stared up into his face, and then held out her arms, indicating she wanted him to pick her up.

There was a brief, awkward pause as Lars frowned and then turned to me questioningly. I had my arms full of baby poopsicle, so I glanced at Nash, who quickly scooped up Annalise. “Lars is one of the Mavericks’ D-men,” he told her. “He has a boo-boo on his arm, so he can’t pick you up. But now you can say hi face to face.”

Annalise frowned. “Does your boo-boo hurt?” she asked Lars.

“I do not have—” Lars began.

“A lot of experience with kids,” Nash finished for him, giving him a look. Lars looked confused for a minute but then nodded.

“Yes, this is true.” He turned back to Annalise. “I am happy to meet you.”

“Do you want to paint my nails? Uncle Wes said he doesn’t know how.”

“Er…” Lars hesitated, seemed to give it some thought, and then nodded. “Yes, I can do this.”

“Yay!” Annalise wiggled to get down and ran from the room.

“You guys are lifesavers!” I told them. “I’m going to get in the shower with Sir Shits-A-Lot while you’re here so you can watch Annalise. Okay?”
